What have you done to your Himalayan today (or yesterday, or this week ...)

My second Himalayan had RE Guards, I didn't like them. but I found a use for part of one :)

Make it fit, if that makes you feel better:ROFLMAO:
Dool2, I am still undecided about which handguards to purchase. What did you not like about the RE handguards.

Finally got the crash guards on the bike, and added the little Hitchcock mudguard riser, and oil cooler guard while I was at it (trying to squeeze as much in as possible before midnight, phew!)

Sorry I overlooked this reply, I didnt like the fact that the Hook is open ended, Other Guards have both ends closed so to speak where the RE ones could possibly get caught up with things and rip the Bars out of your hands, not going to happen on the road perhaps but in Scrub and Bush it is a possibility although I dont go there!

My thoughts too but I wanted the “closed” end cause I think it would add more air protection. In the open style air can “come around the corner” and get your thumbs. With closed it has to go up and over.

It doesent get that cold here so that is not a consideration but I like your thinking.
I have no Idea what the RE ones cost as they came with my second Himalayan as did a Side Car, I dont use that either!

Dool2, thanks for getting back to me. Since I only ride paved and gravel roads, I encounter no "Scrub and Bush". Looks as if the RE guards would work for me.

The open ends of the RE guards are towards the middle of the bike and when I catch hedges or trees they always hit the outboard ends of the handlebars. I guess a big hit could bend the guard inwards, but it has not happened yet. Agree ‘closed’ inner ends would make them stronger, but unless you ride straight into a bush there should not be any problems. And if you ride straight into a bush there may be other issues…..

Getting there...
Hello everyone.
Having gone through almost all this thread, I would like to ask those who have added a side stand extension to your Himalayans, what motivated you to do so. You did it a) trying to improve the leaning angle while standing or b) because the face surface of the original side stand is not good enough for gravel or irregular surfaces?
Please advice, so I can make a better informed decision on an Himalayan I have recently bought, but still waiting to be delivered.
Thank you.

I put one on from eBay. Was cheapie for 20.00. Decently made but the screws weren’t flush on the bottom so when it’s on concrete your bike is basically sitting on 4 screw heads. Didn’t like it. Took it off. I wouldn’t get one unless your off road quite a bit I don’t think it’s needed

I didn't add an extension but cut off the OEM foot and welded a larger piece for the following two reasons: 1) OEM foot keep sinking into the ground to much for my liking 2) Also wanted to shorten the OEM stand in order to make the bike lean over a bit more - Went from OEM 15 degree's to now at 17 degree lean angle. Bike is a 2022 model.

I replaced the original starter relay with a Yamaha starter relay and replaced the power/ground cables with 8 gauge cables. I did this because my starter was struggling while turning the engine over after installing a performance cam without the decompression feature. The 8 gauge cables ensure that there isn’t any power loss going to the starter which I could tell was happening because the original cables would get warm while cranking it over. After doing this and running the ground directly to the starter relay solenoid I don’t have issues with the motor starter.
