What have you done to your Himalayan today (or yesterday, or this week ...)

Put my sidestand foot pad on yesterday as well. Amazon $20. Works well. View attachment 5504
Looks like the same one I purchased off of Amazon.
Mine required some gentle persuasion for the two tabs on the back. In stock form the foot had a few mm to move. Used a vice and a hammer to increase the angle of the tabs resulting in a very snug fit. Sprayed it with bed liner after bolting it on (+loctite)

They do look similar but mine seemed to go on pretty easy with no tweaking or trouble, unlike some of my other Himalayan installs.

First ride with the shortened windscreen. Only rode about 40kms but it was a vast improvement. Great reduction in buffeting and excess noise compared to the stock height and the HMC tall screens. Either a touring seat to raise me up or another 2cm off the top of the screen should provide the desired result.

Thanks for the info re hanguards chaps, i have a couple of sets already similar to the JFG's but neither fit's, i need either OEM which i think will be sufficent for my needs, or a set with a long attatchment on the bars, will look again.

Finally got both side by side. The 2019 was at my son's garage for the better part of the year getting a replacement tank as the old one was damaged in a crash. It took so long because my son works on the road and hasn't had the time to work on it. It needed a little welding which he does but I don't, so I had to wait on him. But all is well now and I have both of my babies back!

Ah yes the bar ends, they have grooves cut into them to fit Suzuki Vstrom handguards, a common mod on Tdm, but they wont be staying on the Himmy, i have also routed my throttle cable behind the brake line which removes a little tension and unclipped it from the brake line, otherwise the other cables seem to be free.
Not sure either about the foam either but as the bars were gifted to me from a friend they are on for the photo, not been off road so that may go..

The bags on the front racks are Lomo waterproof bags 6.5 l i believe, they have 5 litre plastic containers with the tops cut off and placed inside the bags which helps keep the shape and prevents rubbing of any itmes inside.. Lomo bags are currently showing out of stock but often available on Amazon also.

Edit. BTW for anybody that's interested these are the type of pins in the switch gear.

I have similar bars on mine that came with the foam - I ended up keeping the foam but ordered a custom wrap to match the white tank and added the RE Himalayan logos to it. Shop I got it from was Custom Bar Pads on etsy.

Swapped the windscreen of my 2019 to my 2020. It's taller and seemed better suited for street/trail. I'm not sure if I'll put the shorter 2020 screen on the 2019 yet. I'm making it more off-road than the 2020.00kalifront.JPG00apufront.JPG Now the problem is getting the rubber nutserts back in the screen. Anybody have any tips on how to do it?00pop.JPG

Carefully! I knackered one of mine when I changed the screen angle a while back. I managed to get it to 'work' but I know it's no longer correctly positioned. With hindsight, a bit of washing-up liquid might have helped to keep the nutsert supple as well as helping to ease it back into place. And pick a warm day so the nutsert isn't cold and hard?

Can I suggest a pair of soft panniers for the front rack, mine are ViaTerra, but the manufacturer is immaterial, they keep your knees out of the airflow - those of us with a metal knee or arthritis (or both!) will appreciate them. Mine are a handy place to put the chain and padlock.

Did my first oil change today (no service centres in this country). Did it at 420km (since the oil looked black as death).
Used a 20W50 (15W50 isnt available, but will order from Thailand)
Also installed new oil-filter ($4 USD) (noticed that there was no o-ring nor a gasket on the Oil filter casing stock (so ordered those),
*installed Oil cooling guard ($20 USD)
*and Pannier racks on the back ( $53 USD)

This guy does it at about 3:40mins in the video, but indeed, as Pirate mentioned, try to use some dishwash soap?
