NGK spark plug

Just a note on plugs , usually if things change when fitting iridium plug it suggests there is a coil voltage issue. Iridium plugs give a bigger spark from lower voltage. Also don't get confused because it's different after changing plug , original was probably well used . We all know how new plugs make a difference. Just a thought

Indexing can make a measurable difference too.
That is, when fitting the plug trying to make certain the gap on the plug faces in towards the centre of the cylinder.
Both plugs incorporate a resistor so a resistor cap is not necessary, but suitable caps without a resistor are hard to find.

+100 Back when I used to spend ridiculous amounts of time and energy trying to eek out every ounce of horsepower and performance from anything with an engine I owned, indexing plugs was always part of the process. I would use copper washers to shim the plugs to get my angles right. I made some washers last week for the Himalayan :p

On the CR8EIX Is everyone using 0.040” gap?
Mine came gapped at 0.025” but not fitted it yet

I think the recommended gap for this plug is 0.8 to 0.9mm which is what new ones come as. Standard plug is 0.7 to 0.8mm. According to Leuheanrede YouTube vids which are good. Best to use a wire feeler gauge ex Halfords.

I run mine at .030, which is slightly under 0.8MM. Been that way for over 9K miles, my last plug check showed the plug is in great shape, too.

Still lean-ish ofc :(

Hi gang I’m new here. Getting my bike this week or next hopefully. I come from Moto guzzi-land and on those bikes the factory Ngk plugs can foul pretty easy. They found a Bosch platinum fixed all the issues as it was a touch hotter. I did it on mine and fixed all my problems. I dont run nor like Bosch platinums in any vehicle but they work on guzzi. Has anyone tried something like that here? Is it NGk iridium or nothing? That Bosch has a unique tip that these motors “might” like. Just a thought thx. Gus

My NGK Irid runs as hot / lean as I would want it too, plug is on the white side of golden.
Plugs are not something I am comfortable experimenting with, the consequences of getting it wrong can be disastrous and any gains usually small.
Mine is a carbed bike, folks with injected bikes seem to complain even more about lean running , and fit booster plugs, etc, in an effort to richen them up, so wouldn't want a hotter plug on them either.
Give the bike a bit time to bed in and loosen up, it seems most perform much better after a couple of thousand miles and I wouldn't be messing with it to much before you have put a few miles on the clock.
In Oz dirt bike shops stock Brisk plugs which guys seem to like in their hot shot moto crossers, don't know if anyone has a good recommendation for one for the Hima, seen three different suggestions but just about all they have in common is that they will screw in!

Seems like people use the Iridiums in the range of 0.75mm to 1.0mm……I will go near the bottom of that range.

My original plug looked like it was running a bit lean - white around the central electrode - so I have adjusted the TPS to a slightly higher voltage to richen the mixture, and this seems to have helped cold start. I will fit the Iridium in due course, one thing at a time.

I have seen a Brisk BR12YC and a AOR12LGS suggested as well as the AR12 YS.
The 12 is probably the heat range , some of the rest probably relates to the electrode, as Brisk do a wide range of types including the silver YS and multiple electrode types..
