Hi all new to e fields.
Just today put down an order for an Himalayan, new 2023.
I’m quite taken aback at the negatives and now wondering to go back and give backword on the Him.
I’m right in the country, hence the order, had to sell my st 1300, it just could not cope with the terrain.
Should I continue, I’ve heard some real horror stories, if the 450 appears the 400 will fall fast.

The stories of 30mph running in is not only not good due to lagging, but highly dangerous, everyone would be pushing you into gutters and get frustrated if they could not get past on winding roads.
Never read google for answers.

it is great to hear that my choice is working out well, thank you all for the great comments and support of the bike.
I was expecting the Himalayan to be a two wheeler equivalent to the WWII jeep or first series Land Rover. Imho it's a good bit more evolved than those, think 70's or 80's jeep or Landy of motorcycles but with EFI and ABS, more comfort and more composure all around.

Some folks re gear for a few less rpm's at 60-70 mph because freeways are part of their riding diet.

I was expecting the Himalayan to be a two wheeler equivalent to the WWII jeep or first series Land Rover. Imho it's a good bit more evolved than those, think 70's or 80's jeep or Landy of motorcycles but with EFI and ABS, more comfort and more composure all around.

Motorways/freeways I don’t use, re location to the moors, helped decide on a bike.
I sold the ST1300, it was so heavy, but a superb machine.
It will take some time to settle in, but at least I won’t see any blue lights in the mirrors now.😲

16->38T sure does the job for me! Max cruising speed I feel safe with is about 72MPH, but my Himalayan will freely cruise at 80MPH if I so wish - albeit I know I will prolly have to add a bit of oil later lol. Constant 5500+RPM shows me some oil consumption, but I don't normally ask that much of her for more than a gear. 72MPH for me is about 5100RPM and my "Toto" has shown me that she will do that and whatever I have ever asked of her willingly. In my near 40 years of 2 wheel travel I have never had a more wiling and capable partner as my Himalayan. Sure-footed, reliable, friendly to handle in any weather.

I've had a faster bike and many slower bikes than a Himalayan, but none I wholly love like my "Toto". In 19 months of ownership here in Cali, I've put 20K miles on her on California highways and freways. Toto aint slow, folks are just in a hurry to stop!

Looking forward to the new 450, but I don't think it could move me like my '22 Rock Red. Looking forward to user reviews, tho!

Getting a Himmi (or any RE) is like getting a friend, it will give you joy, it will frustrate the hell out of you it will give you the s#%ts, and it will make you smile. It’s slow and has brakes that are not the best; it has many shortcomings. You can improve it and farkle (accessorise) it, and the aftermarket stuff may not fit without some effort- it may never be perfect; but it will be your Himmi - unlike anyone else’s Himmi.

Noraly (aka Itchy boots) was able to ride a Himalayan from India to the Netherlands.

There have been some (ex) members in this forum, who bought the Noraly legend but the bike didn’t work out for them.

However hundreds here have found that it suits them just fine ! As for me, even after 2 1/2 years I still have this stupid 😁 on my face every time I ride my Himmi.

So back to the question of to buy or not to buy
- Good luck with whichever way you go !

I know these things have hiccups.
I don’t want 100 mph.
I don’t need to be at work.
I don’t have to be anywhere in a rush.
When the 450 comes out, I don’t know if they will over price it, or make it a good deal.
I personally think it will be highly priced due to the popularity of the 411,
Whichever way they price it, we will have to wait and see.
If it’s highly priced the 411 will still be good on the market, if it competitive in price, the 411 will fade down the list.
But, I’m still going ahead with my new one in a week or so, and will not be buying the 450, no matter how good it may or may not be.
This is my last bike,

Re-sale wise, I'd say thing are not moving much for any bike at the moment. Times are hard for many folk in the UK and sales / prices reflect that. As to waiting for the 450, that's your call. I suspect that the new bike will gain horse power at the expense of some of the character of the old bike. If you're intending to do green lanes etc (legal darn sarf but not up here) then I suspect the old Himmie, with its combination of relatively low power and decent torque, will be the better off road bet.

As ever, yer pays yer money and yer takes yer choice!

Helmet head on YouTube he gives a great talk on the 411.
I’m not interested in speed, I’m just looking for a low torque for the hills around here.
I’m now happy with my choice, ( when it arrives) after speaking to you guys and catching a few video reviews.
Onwards and upwards.

I think you'll be perfectly happy, N.Yorkshire and N.Wales are where i mainly ride and the bike is suited for these roads, the A59 up through Skipton is a little frustrating but once onto the B roads i would'nt wish for anything else, it's in it's element, expect lots of grins (y)

I e had mine for a week now, what a brilliant little bike, I have no interest in the 450 at all.
I doubted it, but I’m glad this forum changed my mind.
From 117 bhp to 24bhp is a huge drop.
But my goodness is this little tractor good.
I love it.
