Scram 411 occasionally drops from 5th to 4th or 5th to no gear without warning

Getting there...
I have spoken with another Scram owner who told me about the same problem, and I found a similar thread here: https://www.royalenfieldowners.com/index.php?threads/anyone-have-issues-with-their-meteor-dropping-down-a-gear.2840/#post-41632 on the Meteor 350 forum, and here: https://www.royalenfieldowners.com/index.php?threads/transmission-problem.369/#post-2922 on the Himalayan 411 forum. Neither thread reaches a proper conclusion, and there isn't anything about this issue on the Scram forum, so I thought I should make another post here as well.

There are a few different ways this problem has manifested itself:

1.) Sometimes it drops completely out of gear, with "4" displayed on the gear shift indicator. However, it is not in gear at all, but will go to 4th if I shift down, with "4" still displayed (now correctly) on the gear position indicator.
2.) Sometimes it drops straight to 4th gear, with "4" displayed on the gear shift indicator. I can shift up or down from there without problem.
3.) Sometimes it seems like it switches back and forth very quickly between 5th, and either 4th or N, then right back to 5th. If I try to keep it in 5th it will soon drop out of 5th permanently.

Luckily this does not seem to be getting worse over time, and it only happens very occasionally, maybe about 10-15 times total in >10,000 miles of riding, but I worry it could eventually become a major problem. In the thread on the Meteor 350 forum one of the users stated that his mechanic could not reproduce the problem, and that if they started taking things apart and could not find a problem then he would not be able to make a warranty claim and would be left on the hook for the bill. I suspect the mechanics I take my bike to would tell me the same thing.

Unfortunately I have not noticed any common factors involved which may be to blame. My best guess is that somehow the shift into 5th gear is not being completed properly, like something that is supposed to be firmly in place is not, and then it easily slips out of place. I also solicited help from ChatGPT, which pointed me towards a few potential causes, including low or dirty transmission fluid, synchronizer wear, and clutch problems.

Has anyone else on here experienced this problem? Can you guys help me brainstorm what might be the root cause?
