LED Headlamps

Hi, team, I fitted this one ... Safego H4 20W Hi/Lo COB LED ... and it only lasted a month. Not good. Is there one of us who has been using an LED plug in replacement headlamp in daylight-always-on mode for a while. I want to buy something that actually works next time. I'm interested in saving power more than anything else as I normally only ride at night in emergency, but the law here requires daylight headlamps (and I want to be seen as well). Thanks in advance. Happy Trails!

I installed this 7" LED headlamp a couple days ago. It fits nicely inside the stock
bucket. The low beam and halo are on when the ignition is on, and the high beam
is controlled with the high/low switch just like the stock lamp. I had to install
a different plug to the stock DRL wire since it didn't match the headlights. The
headlight itself has the correct 3 prong and no modification was required.
The stock retaining clips work, but I think I will add a couple of more since the
new light is not quite as tight in the trim ring as the stock unit.
I tested the beam on the local big box stores wall and the low beam and high beam
have sharp cut offs and appear good at the stock adjustment.
I will post more after I've tested it a bit more on different road types/conditions.

$65 bucks on Amazon.

How’s the colouring of the led? I find the whiter lights kill my nighttime vision, it’s not something the seems to bother most people. But for me having a more yellow (cheap halogen bulbs are just the right colour) though it isn’t as bright let’s me see more. I’d like to draw less power, don’t really need to free more up but less draw is easier on everything.

I have the same problem and there's a fix. The intensity of the white is because these LEDs spike in the blue spectrum. This is really hard on the eyes, as many people are now finding out while driving and receiving the glare from cars with LED headlights. The remedy is to buy night driving amber glasses. To tone down my house LED bulbs and something I've used to mask the glare on the spot lights I've fitted on the Himalayan, I bought Kapton tape. I use it on all my LEDs and even masked one of my smartphones with it.

You put it over the lenses? I know people have put film stuff in their lenses, seen it. I don’t know about the states, but any film type stuff when I lived in Canada, could get you a ticket and fail a mvi for the places that did them. How strict they enforce it I don’t think at all, but it’s still a risk. Does the tape act as a tint and lower the brightness at all?
I’ve wore yellow glasses before because they make things brighter, but also seem to take reds away from some taillights.

Yeah, the tape covers both spot lights and they still throw well. I was too quick to post and didn't stop to think about sticking yellow tinged tape over a headlight, probably not a good idea. But something really has to done about these damn LED headlights, and street lights even. They really do hurt my eyes and there's research to show that they do more than just that. What with smartphones zombies checking their likes every 5 minutes, technology is really overtaking safety and sanity.
Back to the LEDs. I have the temp on my monitor turned way down day and night using Redshift. As a trial I'd recommend people install it, or the equivalent on Windows. Use it for a week, then turn it off. The screen will seem piecingly, unnaturally bright

You're right about the colour, in the late '60's the French all had a softer headlamp tone then us Brits, and would flash us (no, not like that!) as we drove south to Spain overnight with what they saw as over-white headlamps. I use f.lux on my laptop in the evening to soften the way to sleep. But to get back on topic, my Googling indicates LED headlamps to be illegal in Spain unless they are OEM, and now having seen the total lack of QC of the crap that's coming from China and the complete BS/lies (about power and beam spread) they spout in the advertising, I can understand that. I don't mean to disparage the input from the team on this thread, cheers folks, but a good example of the crap is the one I bought which melted internally after a month's use. I don't want to get fined by the police if I get spot-checked, so I'll road test my next LED headlamp on my next trip out of Spain.

I have a Cyclops 10.0 H4 Ultra LED Headlight Bulb. I installed it on the Himalayan and it works, but I can't manage to get everything in place to put the light lens back in place. Which Cyclops did you use? If you used the same one, how did you get it all to fit? Thanks!

Cool! When you installed it, did you put the rubber boot back on or leave it off? I put the rubber boot back on (slightly modified) and I can almost fit everything including the additional led plug boxes in the stock bucket, but not quite and I didn't want to force it. Any advice on what you did would be greatly appreciated. I can attach a photo if that helps. Thanks!

15 bucks, installed since 2016. Outer ring LED now disfunctional, the rest still works. They fog over a little occasionally but it disappears when the weather is dry again.
They are plug & play if you do not use the outer ring which is a gimick IMO anyway.
