So the stock seat felt like a plank with a nail in it after a couple of hours. So I bought the touring seat and went to work - OK it's only an hour away, but still a definite improvement, not exactly comfortable, more like the plank without the nail. I obviously have a bony *rse, but a well padded belly.
Getting on well with the Himmy, went out on Friday for a run to the seaside - 35 miles each way, 10 miles of 60mph dual carriageway and the rest interesting back country roads with lots of tight bends.
Going out on an Interceptor demo bike Wednesday while mine is in having the brakes checked mmmmm
Get yourself a Seats Concept seat and you will never have a complaining arse. Well worth the money.

Finally got it dirty!!! Did 40+ miles on a dirt/gravel road. Discovered that the suspension really needs some work - a lot of nut-busting pot holes, and it definitely needs softer shocks on both ends. My last dirt bike was a 80's era Suzuki motocross bike that had absolutely plush suspension compared to the Himmie.

I'll try thinner oil on the front first, but looking for input from anyone that's upgraded the front/rear shocks/springs. After today, I'm ok with shelling out a little cash to save my family jewels (even though I'm way past reproductive age).

Go up in a grade or two in the front fork oil to help it not bottom out so quick. I did that and it improved the front a lot. Also if you are over 75kgs then the back preload needs to be adjusted all the way. That way it will not hit the limit that easily. I'm 90kgs and it improved my ride. See here what I found.

How stiff is the sidewall compared to the Pirelli? I'm curious to know since I need to fix the occasional puncture out on the trails.

Perhaps my technique needs some improvement, but I wouldn't want to do it on the trailside. I worked up a fair old sweat getting it done. Seems a fair bit stiffer than the Pirelli.

The Missions are definitely stiffer than the Pirrelis but that sidewall takes a lot of abuse with some riders and they hold up well. Pretty good on wet asphalt until I had around 4k on them. Good on dirt and gravel and OK in mud. I had a set on a F650gs twin and when I pulled them at 6k miles they still had some meat on them. A riding buddy had a set last him over 7k with mixed terrain. I liked them but just needed a little better off road bite than what they were giving me.

Hi Yangonnerd. Sorry about the delay in posting the picture. I just cut the front from it with an angle grinder with a cutting disk fitted to it. I suppose you could take a saw to it but the plastic is pretty hard so it might take a bit of effort.

So tonight I finally got around to attempting to make my Pivot Pegz work on the Himmi. Don't let them tell you they're model specific 😜 With a little filing and tweaking they mounted up just fine.

This is the 3rd bike I've been able to mount this same set on. Originally I bought them for my BMW Dakar and supposedly this model number was specific to the F650GS's, which I'm sure they were, until my penny pinching hands got on them.

They're worth the effort. I know they're not cheap but they're the best pegs I've used in 40+ years of riding.

What did I do today? Broke the fuel line t piece 😔. Fortunately Hitchcocks stock them at 20p each. Shame the delivery is £2.50. Had to order some spare rim tape to make the delivery cost easier to swallow 😊

are they E07 or E07+? and how difficult was the install?
Rear is a + front is a Dakar. Not too bad actually, I was worried since I read they were really hard to put on. I have a Baja No Pinch now and they would have been super simple with that. I've had sport touring tires that were way harder.

There's just nothing like getting a box from Hitchcock's full of goodies covered in British newspaper. The smell that comes out is reminiscent of old-timey machine shops. Crumple that newspaper up and drop it in the garage, place will smell professional pretty quick...right? At least that's what I just told my SO when she asked why I didn't pick it up here in my garage.

Had some time during lunch today at work to install one of the goodies, so out came the surprisingly clean air filter, which has a touch over 10,000KM:

The stock af cap is definitely restrictive, I can really feel the difference at low RPM as well as high. I thought the intake would be louder at higher throttle positions with low RPM but it's not unpleasant to me at all. The best part is the full throttle "Yeti Yell" is gloriously greater :D

To-do list this weekend: install Boost Plug, Pyramid front fender 'beak', take measurements for custom side covers that will replace factory plastic
