Don't anyone worry about me, I live by the rule that you don't hand out what you can't take yourself, and I have a pretty thick skin!
Covid here in the state of South Australia has been almost a non event - around a thousand cases and four deaths in a population of two million, around one tenth of one percent of the UK's performance!
But to be fair a population density of around two per square mile probably helps! Makes for relaxed bike riding too!
We have had around four weeks lockdown in total, but it has not been particularly strict or enforced, and had virtually no effect on my riding or social life.
No current cases outside quarantine and no deaths this year!
And next to no vaccination either, the Federal Government forgot to order any!
Maybe get some next year, just in time for the election-----!

I am experiencing the exact same thing. Interesting. Perhaps these bikes were subject to some sort of deteriorating agent during shipping? They fill those ocean containers with chemicals to prevent anything surviving the trip over.

Damn - and I once had the opportunity to emigrate to Adelaide. Was offered a job there by IBM in about 1984, but my wife (at the time) was vehemently against it. Should have taken it and split up. We split up a couple years later anyway, but everything I learned about Adelaide then made me want to go. That and my cousin (and good friend) had already emigrated to NZ, so I could've seen him a bit more often that I see him now (10 years on average!) Oh well, everything happens for a reason. Met my soul-mate here in the States a few years later. Been married for 30 years now, so no big regrets.

Have done over 12,000 miles on mine. Apart from the brake recall, I had the clocks changed under warranty as they suffered condensation problems. I've also had a speedo sensor cable break on me, but that's just normal wear and tear. All in all a very reliable bike and it will hopefully stay that way.
My 2019 had the usual stalling issues until I put a powerboost on it. And an Iridium plug. No more problems then. However, my son laid it down (low speed tip over) and crushed the right guard thingie into the tank, denting it pretty good. The paint on the tank came off in sheets. He bought a replacement tank and transferred the parts from the damaged to the new and all seemed well until it started to leak gas like crazy. While trying to leaking part off, one of the bolts stripped out and is in a very tight place making getting it off tricky. That's where is stand for now.
My 2020 rides like a dream. I drove it home over 200 miles in a torrential downpour and it performed like a champ. It does stall when cold, of course. An iridium plug is installed but not a powerbooster. I may put in a power commander but haven't decided for sure. I lowered it which meant more mods but now I can flat foot it and I love it.

why and when does it stall when cold? I've ridden in the winter months when it was cold, never had a stalling issue.
Mine is a 2021 USA model with 185 miles. She suffers from the chronic stalling issue during warm up and very often stalls at idle during daily rides. The dealer is 3 hours away, so I've also performed the TPS, Idle and Iridium spark plug fix to no avail. Yes she runs, rides and and handles great at speed, but my new owner experience has been ruined with a dash of buyers remorse on top. Another live and learn experience.

My 21 has been frustrating. It had the 300 mile service. It is worse now with stalling for no reason and at no particular time.
It still takes a few minutes of warm up to idle. After riding 20 miles it still stalls when pulling off stop or even just randomly.
I am not happy. The bike is not reliable.

Just saw a new video from ‘Nathan the postman’ and he has a Euro5 green Himalayan. Reported stalling issues- turned out to be relays for the fuel pump ( apparently 2 relays and one failed ) that he replaced and now runs fine. Apparently RE switched suppliers for relays or something. Hope this helps.

In my experience (2 Himmys 2018 & 2019) and a friend's with a 2020 model, bike needs to warm up/ run for maybe 10mins to allow idling to climb a bit before it stops stalling on low idles. Normal for many bikes especially in the morning. If it continues to stall after, it's significantly warmed up , then you have a problem.

Hmmm. have to pay more attention to that this winter. usually during the winter months, I'll start the bike up, and by the time I put all my gear on, including plugging in my electric gloves, the bike has already warmed up, and she's ready for take off. sometimes, if it's really cold, I'll use the enricher? to give her a little more fuel, so that she warms up a bit quicker. Otherwise, no issues. I know, during the summer months, she sounds like she has more umph, when starting. I recently had my fuel pump replaced under warranty, when she left me stranded by the roadside.

I've only had my bike a few weeks and just over 1000 miles, did stall occasionally when I tried setting off without sufficient warm up time, it's been quite warm here for October in south UK. However I'm in a rural area, no road junctions/need to stop/slow down for about 6 miles, by which time bike runs fine, though sometimes will surge a bit when on a steady low throttle. I have just changed the spark plug to an iridium one. Interestingly noticed the exhaust down pipe has changed colour after doing this, not noticed it before - due to the plug?

People like to talk. People who like bikes like to talk about bikes, rides they had, and stuff they have to fix. So it's automatically going to be about a third of a forum's content. It may get construed as bitching and moaning, but it's really just the emotion we feel about our bikes not running, recollected in tranquility.
It's so obvious how cool RE owners look on their bikes that we don't even need to mention it any more.

2021 Model (SPUD) . I love the thing, absolutely love it.
Sadly, only been able to put about 1100 miles on the bike in the 6 or so weeks of ownership.
Young SPUD is in for a fix, after the abs sensor failed. Symptoms were, ABS light staying on, MIL light staying on, No Speedometer.
No big deal, i'm just missing riding the daft thing, having to slum it and ride my Tenere 700 (which I am selling because the Himalayan is jsut such a great wee bike)
Teething problems, not fussed. Just waiting for the part and we'll be back to hurtling around the b roads giggling and laughing.

Funny... I'm thinking of selling mine and a Tenere 700 is one of the bikes I am looking at. I love my Himalayan and it so far has suffered none of the problems that you guys have mentioned. Sure it's a little cold blooded, but a little throttle, for about 30 seconds, then let it idle while I grab my gear and I'm off with no stalling or running issues.

I bought the T7 , and set it up so I could head off and tour europe and the middle east for all of this year. However, a certain 'rona' put paid to that, and the T7 is wasted in Scotland, where offroad riding is illegal. The T7 is vastly superior to the himalayan in almost every way, but it is just rubbing salt in my wounds having a round the world tourer and not being able to leave this stupid little island.
As for the issues with SPUD, apparently even R.E. are interested in what has happened.
(First, I crashed the bike , when for no reason the back wheel locked on a downhill off camber bend, so I had to bail, no harm done other than I was baffled. But there was no recurrence, so I convinced myself that I had just got target fixation or something daft.
Then when out offroad riding with a guy on a ktm 790 , the abs and engine lights came on and wouldnt go off. The bike was running fine, so I rode home, and the lights went out on the way.
But I had a nagging feeling that there was something not right with the brakes, or the abs.
Then, out riding the other week, and it lit up like christmas. And the lights wouldnt go off, and the speedo stopped as well.
I'm not bothered, these things happen, and as long as it gets sorted properly, I'll shrug it off.
