I don’t have a picture of the bike at the moment but here is an old photo of longer bracket. it is also more substantial than the original. The cable is also routed under the central channel.View attachment 3523
I just received the pannier mount kit. It clearly states in the instructions that this bracket is for European and Indian bikes only. It will not fit through the opening of the tailight assembly on a US import bike. "I Tried"

It also fits my Australian delivered bike.
From your experience the US version seems to have a different taillight assembly.
Interesting, as the indicators are also different in the US version.
This is useful info for US buyers ordering the pannier racks. 👍

I have the black RE panniers and like them but the really irritating thing for me is the lack of lifting handles, I do have liner bags but would still rather have handles.
My dealer gave me a set of awesome handles, they strap on the tie down brackets , and can also be adjusted to use to tie down a tent or bag on top as well. Easy to slip on and off the panniers if you don't want to leave them on all the time. So they do exist.

for an irishguy in Alabama that depends...o_O Hell, I've been to Arkansas cafes and had to say "Pardon Me" on more than one occasion. I would stick to saddle bag....
OK... So I had to Google it, and according to the "Know it All" Eye in the Sky it is pronounced "pan-yur"

Pronounce "Pannier"

Interesting in that it's actually the French word for "basket" which makes sense. Thanks to the Norman invasion of England our language is a mishmash of The Germanic and the Romantic languages.

@Hutchie2112 (Welcome to the forum, BTW!) - any idea who makes the handles/tie downs, or where we might look for them? I've wanted something like that since I got the bike.
Thanks,
OG

Sorry, I dunno. BUT...
I had a quick google, universal motorcycle pannier handles....
This is the same , or very very similar, on ebay (uk) , so I'm sure you'll be able to find similar closer to you...

Tourtech sells them. I had them on my Tiger. Kinda spenda . The price shown is for each. Not pair.
