"New" Continental GT! But not new to this forum....

Well, I bought myself a Himalayan, and I got my son a Continental GT -- he works so hard at school and with his job, he really impresses me, so much more mature than me at his age -- I thought what the heck, a good bonding purchase. And it HAS been just that! Well...he loved motorcycling so much that it is his primary means of transportation now. But -- the Cont GT riding position was not ideal for him. He's a buff dude, but it just didn't fit his dimensions. So, he opted for a Kawasaki Vulcan-S, (which is much, much more comfortable for him). He was going to trade in the Cont GT (with my blessing and permission) but they only were going to give him 4000 dollars (funny story -- he took a loan, and has a higher credit score that I do! Haha. I still had to co-sign the loan because I have, you know, a job and money and all, but...). For 4000 dollar? I bought it from him! So now, I am the now, the proud owner of a RE Himalayan AND the most awesome Continental GT! OMG! It is black with gold stripes. This thing is amazing! Granted, I am an old guy, but I can keep that tuck for shorter rides around town. I thought about modifying the handlebars, but.....it is the prefect riding position for the horrible winds we get in Kansas. This thing feels so precise and powerful. Its really a lot of fun! John is coming over to go for a ride with this old man tomorrow. It is ideal. I'm gonna take the Cont GT! (I did not tell him, but I got the one-person touring "race" seat with the cool black hump behind it.)

Hello Curt, and welcome to this forum and congratulations on the new bikes. Interesting story. You can get a bar-end riser kit and also put the same front foot pegs and shifting and brake pedal set up as the Intercepter 650 has to help your riding position. The 650 GT and the 650 Intercepter are identical frames. Here is the link to the bar- end risers.

I own both of these bikes and really love them both. I‘m in my med 60s so I know what you are saying about the Continental 650. Some stretching exercises before getting on the Continental really helps and I also run the tall RE (Royal Enfield) windscreen which at speed lifts you up just a bit to take some pressure off your wrists and arms. Or simpler way would be to just trade it in on a Intercepter 650. Personality I like the stock riding position but that’s me. But everyone is different.3057
