New bike first oil change

Got to my first oil change today after a 100+ mile ride. First I went to City of Rocks state park (near Deming, NM), then a stop for a picture along the Mimbres river. Then draining the oil thanks to Form-a-funnel. Then a picture of the screen. This was the absolute cleanest new engine I've ever broken-in. Had magnets on the drain plug, no shavings at all. No shavings in the oil, no shavings on the screen. The last two pictures are of a curve on the NM roads. The road department has a 50% chance of getting it right (or left). ha ha. 70 years old and still buying new bikes. Got four in the garage now.

That street sign cracks me up. It took me a second to spot the problem, which is rather embarrassing. :D

Question - instead of taking the drain plug out (and have to deal with the copper washer), is it reasonable just to drain via loosening the whole cover since it has to come off anyway?

tnx!

Yep, I realized that when I couldn't find the filter screen under the oil filter like in my other bikes and I had to take off that plate. Now that's the only one I'll remove.

Yeah, I am aware of the Ebay sellers from India. I need one sooner than it would take to ship from India. Almost have my 300 miles put in.
I bought 3 from my dealer when I picked up the bike. I'll order the 5-pack from India when I start getting low ($38 USD). Just plan ahead.

Took less than two weeks to get mine, and that's with the incompetents at Fedex not being able to work out how to deliver stuff (it's a long story, but they had three tries and they had my correct address right from the start)

Is that green scoop home made? If not, where'd you get it?

There's also a plug just below and behind the oil cooler pipe - I got a decent amount out of that. Even so, filter change as well, mine only took 1.4 L of oil - be careful filling them up folks.

Ya got ripped off mate, I got 10, with gaskets, for $A36 delivered.

That's not a link to his filters, just his shop, but it's where I got mine.
I didn’t get ripped off, I still paid half of what I would’ve from my local dealer. I would believe shipping to Australia is cheaper then to the US since I’m a lot farther away.

The funnel is called Form A Funnel. Buy the real one and not the other Amazon knock offs.
