Well its been pretty naff here for a few days and because I have a half kilometre of track to get to the road, when it rains it becomes a quagmire.

Today was the first time I've been able to use the bike with no problems.

The weathers really perked up now! I was faffing around with the Himalayan outside for half the day (new chain, removing the slack in the cush drive) and definitely topped up on vitamin D while I was out there, lol ... looks like you made the most of the day, too :)

Well, the decision was kinda taken out of my hands - my other half decided against nabbing my Himalayan in favour of a lighter bike (to be fair, she can't really push it out of nose-down parking like you sometimes get in Barna), so that means I'm staying with it for at least a couple more years. I had been looking at the Scram and Classic, but in real life I found the former to be uglier than photos make it out to be and the latter is beautiful so I think I'd worry too much about scratching it when I go off road (not a worry with the Himalayan, that looks better the more times it gets dropped or covered in mud, lol)

Have you finished running in your new bike yet?

Yes the chrome model is too nice to go off roading with.
Ive just fitted the touring seat and it's a bit higher for me so might be difficult to touch the ground properly on the centre stand to get it off. Alas my inside leg measurement is only 30" :(:ROFLMAO:
Taking the bike to Reus tomorrow morning for the 500kms service, after that I can get up to 80 kmsph, wow so fast.

I've never felt keen on rocking off a center stand on the bike, always did it from the side with one hand on the bars and the other on the sissy bar ... probably because most of the bikes I've had with center stands have been too tall to do that with my feet on the floor! (apart from a particularly sexy 70cc Yamaha step-through I once had)

Make sure they do the valve check, there was a notification from RE recently that some bikes can skip the first check if the engine sounds ok, but loads of people find they've tightened up a bit. The service kit includes the rocker cover gasket IIRC, so there's no excuse.

I've already told Albert, the foreman, that it needs checking. Originally he was thinking it was my Bonnie in for a service but was soon as I told him it was the Enfield he completely agreed it needed checking.

At leas there are only 2 valves to check, not 4 per cylinder.

Hi BSA biker. Welcome. Enjoyed your into very much. When it came to the part about the restriction to the 350 top speed limitations small bell began to ring. I remembered that I had heard the reason why it was restricted. Like most things it's a manufactured product like for example day time running lights, remember those? That were suggested in the 80s. We all said they could stuff them right up their ar😶🌫🫥.
And now we have them like it or not as the headlights are hard wired in the on position from the factory.
And so the restriction to the speed of the J platform 350.
It's all to do with Euro5b or Euro plus. These regulations will affect machines capable of reaching 81 mph.
See this video, listen carefully.
Ride safe
