First Tunnel Ride.

Rode through the Bankhead tunnel twice today. Once in each direction.

It was my first time riding a motorcycle through a tunnel. The first time through was scary. It's a low narrow tunnel that was built over 80 years ago and the pavement is wavy. The speed limit in the tunnel is 35 which is about what I was going but of course everyone else in cars wanted to go faster so by the time I got through to the end I was pulling a train of angry car drivers behind me. On the way back it wasn't as scary since I knew what to expect.

Here's a video I found on youtube of the drive through it. There was a lot more traffic when I went through.

After I got through the tunnel I continued on to Battleship park. The directions said to make a sharp right after getting out of the tunnel to get on the side road that the park is off of. Well I guess the sharp right I made was the wrong one because it took me on to the I-I0 bridge across Mobile Bay. I wasn't prepared to go on the Interstate but I had no choice. Fortunately, after 3 miles of me going 55 and being passed like I was standing still by cars doing 80 I was able to get off at exit 30 and double back to the road that the park is on. I took a couple of pictures from outside of the gate, but I didn't go in because it costs $13 bucks and I'm really not that interested in Military stuff. Got enough of that during my 4 years in the Air Force to last me a lifetime.

Haha, that's totally awesome man. Cagers in a hurry, no surprise, they chose boring transportation, IMHO :D

Beale AFB aint far from me, sometimes I get a little show from a Dragon Lady or 2. 66 years she's been in service!

Does that tunnel take you under a body of water or what? there's a tunnel in NYC call the Holland tunnel that takes you underneath the East river from NYC to NJ. Find it fascinating that I'm traveling underneath a large body of water. love the look of the B-52 on the tarmac. was in the Air force reserve from the mid 70's to early 80's. was at Chanute AF base in Illinois and saw a B-52 0n display.
