Hello Everyone, a really simple and probably obvious answer. I just bought a new Himalayan 2022 with the Tripper. Can anyone tell this newb what model it is? Is it the BS 6? I came across an owners manual in English for USA, Canada, California yet it does not cover Mexico where I bought my Himalayan. My owners manual came printed in Spanish which I'm not fluent enough to read and the dealer then gave me a manual for the Euro V. I asked him if my bike was the Euro V model and he responded that mine was Euro V certified whatever that means. Is there any place on the bike that would tell me such as the VIN tag on the frame? I know nothing of these bikes other than I got on it, rode it, loved it. No fault to the dealer, when dealing with language issues, things always manage to get interesting.

If it is 2021 or later, it is a BS6. If you look at frame gooseneck, between the front forks, you should see the build month+year. Whether it is Euro 4 or Euro V depends on the equipment installed:

1) Look at exhaust, is the cat in the horizontal run of the pipe or vertical, near the cylinder head? Vertical means it's likely to be Euro V.

2) Does it have a thumb lever on left grip that wishes it was a choke? If so, it's definitely Euro 4.

Another tell-tale sign is to remove your seat and look for the relays. Euro 4 bikes have 2 relays, while Euro V bikes have 4.

I bet your dealer is correct and that you have, as most of the rest of the world does, an Euro5. RE North America (I know, Mexico and many other countries are North American) stayed retained the Euro4 design.
The most simple way to verify an EuroV is that the budge housing the cat was moved. Formerly just below the engine on the down pipe, it’s now near the exhaust port.

The Catalytic converter is definitely in the vertical orientation rouphly 8 inches down from the manifold, and it also has the wannabe choke on the left handlebar, and it appears to have two relays under the seat - they were the only two of anything under the seat. According to your description it appears I have a Euro 4 model.

Interesting, so you have the newer exhaust but still Euro 4. The new Indian-market Himalayans are the same way. I'm curious what the build date is on your bike.

"BS6" refers to the emissions compliance level that that the bike must be built to in India. This took effect April 2020 and every motorcycle manufactured after that date must be BS6. The change in India from BSIV to BS6 emissions mainly involved adding an evap canister and changing the whole country's fuel to cleaner formulas. The reason there is no "BS5" is that India is "skipping" Euro V standards for their own country and claim that BS6 is equivalent to "Euro 6" which doesn't exist for motorcycles yet.

Therefore, all Euro V bikes are BS6, but not all BS6 bikes are Euro V. India and North America appear to receive BS6+Euro4 bikes. I think that's a good thing.
