dirtroads in Wales

I am planning to do a few days of walking in Wales sometime in May/June. Traveling there on my Himma.
Now here in Holland we have no dirt roads: 99% is paved/asphalted. The 1% that's not is not open for motorized traffic.
I see on the map (Ordnance Survey Landranger) that iin Wales there are plenty of dirt roads/ fourhwheel tracks; are these open for motorized traffic in general?
I have no plans to do rough off roading, I am just curious how it will feel to ride the bike away from asphalt.

Any one any ideas?

Hi, I've done nothing off road in the UK, but here's a good website to have a look at for some ideas

As much as we want to inspire you to uncover the wonders of the world, due to the General Data Protection Regulation in the European Union, we’re unable to do so at this time. Rest assured that we’re working hard to implement new practices so we can do so in the future. We appreciate your understanding!

Got to love the EU!!

Wales is one of the best places in the UK for off road riding. However due to constant pressure by walking groups, which will enhance your walking holiday and vandalism by the 4x4 outlaws Byways are often closed or have seasonal restrictions imposed by local councils. The term you should look for is BOAT short for Byway Open to All Traffic.
Most will be found on Ordance Survey Maps

Best source of current information is found vis the Trail Riders Fellowship but there is a membership fee

I would offer to meet you but May/June I shan't be in the UK

Hope the link helps

@Champ, thanks very much for your suggestions, but the initial post was from 2020...
I don't know yet what I'm going to do this year, but Wales is still on the list.

I've spent many a happy week up in the Elan Valley dams where there are trails and off road tracks, but that was some time ago. Most are near Rhayader where there is also a lovely campsite next to a pub.

Not sure if you have to hire a bike in this one:
