Better Brakes?

Some of the test rides I took on 650s had poor braking because the dealer didn't properly bleed the brakes when performing the caliper recall. I made a point that following through with sale was dependent on the bike having good solid brakes, and it does. Adjusting the lever made a big difference also.

I now have a Brembo 4 pot, 65mm axial mount calliper fitted to my bike with a Brembo RCS MC. 330mm rotor on a custom bracket.
A bit of machine work to make it fit, and am thinking of how to make it a bit simpler so that most riders could do the mod

Personally I find the brakes on my Interceptor to be excellent. I also ride a 1990 GL1500 Goldwing. My first reaction when I get back on that is "OMG! The brakes don't work!"

Enfield brake upgrade complete:
I have now fitted a 4 piston Brembo calliper, and larger 330mm diameter floating rotor to my Royal Enfield 650.
A 6.9% increase in piston area plus a 3.125% increase in brake torque from the bigger rotor.
I had to design and make some custom parts to make this work, and I made a few extra sets if anyone wants to do the same upgrade:
Calliper bracket
Rotor spacer
ABS pickup ring
ABS sensor mount

The Brembo P4-30/34 is shown, however a larger piston, 4 pad, P4-34 calliper has just arrived and will fit it next
20.2% greater piston area than stock plus the same 3.125% torque gain from the 330mm rotor

Thanks for sharing it. It looks like you did a nice clean job of it. 👍 If I was to go racing I would take you up on your parts offer.

I see the SG650 Concept motorcycle at the EICMA 2021 show has not only upside down forks but dual disc brakes up front. I hope this will carry over to the production model that should be coming out the first of next year.

Nice engineering, and a great upgrade for the RE. If I was touring or going faster this would be a necessary for my RE. Being as my last multi-mile "keeper" bike was a 74 BMW R75/6 the RE brakes are for me a major improvement.... LOL
