For those that have them, what is behind that small colored panel on the front of the gas tank? That thing's an eyesore to me. I'd be more tempted to get one if it turns out I can remove that panel. If it's purely decorative, then I'd take it off in a heartbeat.

Followed this German video and removed the tank panels on my Scram 411. The horn is mounted behind the right tank-pad. You can move it as shown in the video. (Ignore the color scheme in the photo below, it just a custom sticker over blazing black model)

Thanks, pcava. Good to know that removing them is possible and that there's nothing critical they're covering / protecting. Much appreciated.

Based on the video and the other pictures, it looks like the small panel and bar behind it would protect the oil cooler on the left hand side in a drop if you don't have engine guards. With engine guards, like pcava's picture, the oil cooler appears to be protected in a drop and the overall look of the bike is cleaned up, imho.

I didn't see any other thread for "useless and needless babblings of joy" so I'll just put it here...

I'm a total noob (as my avatar says for me) and this is my first bike so some of this may just be the joy of motorcycling for the first time, but every time I ride this bike I'm more and more convinced it's the PERFECT bike for me. It fits me even at 6'2" and 230#, has enough power even if it isn't LOTS of power, and is easy and fun to ride. I have no doubt I'll "outgrow" it someday, but right now I'm tickled pink and literally cannot think of another bike I'd rather have.

Sorry for the giddy, giggly rant.

I am about the same size as you, and am in the same boat. Great bike for me.

Well I am 6’1” and have no problem with the cockpit area. It depends on body dimensions. You can have short legs, long torso, long legs, short arms etc etc. Best to test ride as we are all so different . Love mine as a winter bike and still modding to suit my needs. Every time I go out on it I am grinning ear to ear- even at 50-60 mph. If in a rush, I can take another bike. Really are amazing value and easy to work on. Just take life slower and you are off. Looks less like a Swiss Army knife and more like a classic scrambler.
