    Brake light

I’ve seen it with a headlight led bulb and a rear brake bulb which was failing. If it is a LED and it started doing it out of nowhere I would just try a new bulb.

What have you done to or how's your Scram 411 recently?

Hitchcocks Motorcycles pointed to a bottleneck in airflow at the head which is maxes out at high RPM in OEM form. This reasoning explains why free flow filters and exhaust haven’t proven to provide addition maximum power on a stock engine. The aftermarket cams provide additional flow at higher...

    Brake pads

From eBay, I see half a dozen offers for a himalayan delivered front rotor in the 65-90 US dollar range. It would be nice if cheaper but it is definitely not BMW expensive. So far I haven’t notice alarming wear on my EBC’s with 10000 miles. I just putt around though.

Himalayan 411 bs6: Hard gear shifting (Cannot find neutral and shifting to 2nd gear from 1st gear issue)

Yes this, the obvious difference between those two results is that the engine is spinning in one so the clutch has come into play. The clutch impacts things more while at a stop, check that the cable is adjusted to spec.

Rough idle and dies, TPS fine, valves good

Check your spark plug wire boot to wire connection on both ends and make sure it is tightly screwed all the way on.

I’ll also suggest EBC-HH, but like the OEM on the back since it doesn’t need more grip and they are nice and quiet.

WHAT IS EURO 5+, AND WILL IT KILL OUR FAVOURITE BIKES?

So, unburned fuel is a contaminant to the catalytic converter and seems counter to what a manufacturer would want. There is already unburnt fuel in the gasses since no engine is perfect, air pumps were used for many years to introduce oxygen into the exhaust to try and complete the process. For...

WHAT IS EURO 5+, AND WILL IT KILL OUR FAVOURITE BIKES?

It’s interesting that the combustion emission standards didn’t change in any appreciable way, just that the catalyst has to be tested as durable and monitored by the ECU. It does mean an additional sensor though the longer real life tests might be what makes older or low selling models leave the...

Cell Phone Damage From Handlebar Mounts?

The quadlock dampener is a good design and inexpensive insurance, it is what I use but my phone doesn’t have the easily damaged image stabilization. This dated but good article explains it well. https://www.ifixit.com/News/55673/iphone-smartphone-motorcycle-cameras-ois-focus-damage

    Valve clearance RE change spec?

These settings look the same as the Meteor and other J series settings, is that correct? It would be interesting if they changed them to match but seems like it might be more well known or easy to verify by dealers in the not distant future.

    What's your preferred battery tech?

AGM, but your care and that the Scrams haven't had the same drain issue as Euro4 Himalayans might mean a decent battery life. Looks like my original was an AGM from Varta, a Johnson Controls subsidiary.

    Gear Selector Sensor..

I don't know if this might be helpful diagnostic wise. If it is the Fuel injected Euro4 model which has the known key off drain issue and it hasn't been fixed, then you could try measuring the current drain with battery off in each gear including neutral and see if you get different readings...

    Scram 411 tires

There is one size of 705 that is Q, it was near the top of the list but you are correct, most of the rest are Q (130 mph rating) and one is V rated (149). Should be plenty for even the new Himalayan which uses similar sizes. The 244’s are not ones that interested me as they are just trail...

    Scram 411 tires

The 705's in sizes for the Himalayan are Q rated, so good for 99 mph. Anakee Adventures are very nice, but a set in the US is about 450 dollars US vs 170 for a set of 705's. No issues of delimitation on any Himalayan forum that I have seen for the last 5 years, the issue looks to be over a...

    Scram 411 tires

If you are riding mainly street, Shinko 705’s have been working very well here in the US. They are highly rated in the comprehensive review below and seem superior to the Pirelli's which came on my Himalayan. I currently have 12,000 miles on mine and will need a rear soon, I just putt around but...

Himalayan: Squeaking Noise When Letting Out Clutch into 1st Gear

Mine made a sound like a goose honk early in its life when cold during its first clutch engagement of the day. It quit doing it long ago on mine. A battery disconnect for a few moments and reconnect will reset the gear position system and it will work correctly again.

What have you done to your Himalayan today (or yesterday, or this week ...)

Changed out my rear brake sensor. It’s actually my second replacement. It looks easy to damage the wires as you put it on and I suspect the original was tweaked during assembly. Couldn’t find anything obviously wrong with the second but the used replacement from a parted out bike got things...
