Anyone have any experience with the engine guards from Royal Enfield for the Himalayan? Can’t seem to find a set by GIVI in stock....

Thanks sooooo much for taking the time to post photos, and even more so for letting me know that you haven't "tested" the engine guards. I hope that their efficacy remains forever a mystery to you!!! Also love your Kawa!

I have the Givi bars on my bike. When I rode the demo from my dealer, they had the RE stock bars, and with the 2 point fixing, I personally thought they looked a little flimsy and might collapse if the bike went over.

The 3 point fixing on the Givi bars inspire much more confidence.

Anyone have any thoughts on the three leg guard styles from Zana?

They make the bike a bit too wide for my taste. And depending on the quality/thickness of the tubing they might be fairly heavy. Changing the oil filter isn't made any easier. But they do look sturdy with a three point mount.

I've got this pair, and have been quite happy with them. Only drawback is not being able to mount a heavy duty skid plate with these on there. I hvae even tested them once, a slow mo drop off road, they did their job admirably.

Have a look at the Givi bars. Solid with a finish close to the engine cases.

Most of the bars do not allow for alternate skid plates.
Might be a market here for some enterprising individual.

They are a third of the price of the Givi ones though. So wanted to see if anyone had actually used them.

Thanks for the real world experience. Sounds good. They are the model I was considering too.

I got the Givi bars and I got mine on sale for $160 (Revzilla). The three point attachment gives me more confidence than than the 2 point attachment of the RE engine guards. Also they don't make the bike too wide. I have not tested them yet but i am sure they will do a fine job,

"Tested" my RE crash bars at walking speed. The tabs bent a little. Wasn't to hard to straighten 'em back out. I reckon any faster any harder the tabs would've bent more and absorbed that extra energy. Figuring at some point they'll fold all the way to the engine at which point they'd become sliders. 👍

To be frank with you they are not bigger they look fine as I have installed on my bike. No issue changing oil with Givi Crash Bars so far. I got it from carpimoto for about $125. Installed it myself took me about 45min.

One problem I have faced while installing a bolt to chassis close to oil filter and behind exhaust pipe. The givi provided bolt is M8X20mm which is too long to install and exhaust removal is necessary, which I was not interested todo. I finally found that M8X12mm (Everbilt Cap Screw M8-1.25 x 12mm) fits well with out disassembly of exhaust pipes and it went almost 10mm inside the chassis which is a perfect fit.

I'm using them on my bike. I like them. I fortunately can't say how well they work, but they look nice.

Dan. I noticed your GPS mount behind the windshield. I ordered one just like that off eBay direct from India and it was a mess. None of the table or holes line up. Where did you get yours? Did it install easily.
I have since gotten my money back from the eBay seller (vintagebikecounty) but still need a GPS mount.

I got it from the same seller. I don't think they are consistently built as I saw some reviews where the buyer was happy and some where they were not. I was able to get mine to fit with some persuasion on my part. I had to place the windshield in the forward position, bit it is on and working fine for me. In fact, to put the hand guards on, I would have had to do that anyhow.

Mine is so out of spec, that I can't get it to line up no matter what. I ground off the welded on nuts and bent the mounts with no luck. This is just going into the recycling bin at this point. I may order the SRC GPS bar but its such a steep price for something so simple: https://www.srcmoto.com/collections/electrical-accessories-royal-enfield-himalayan/products/gps-bar-accessory-mount-2016-2019-royal-enfield-himalayan-1?variant=30299970961473
