Hi,got a 1992 500 bullit, got starting problems, went through all the usual checks, spark, timing, valves, points, got good compression etc, thinking it may be a duff carb,(stripped and cleaned 3 times).
Where,s the best (cheapest place) ,to buy one.
Regards.

Hi,the bike started just great after i bought it,great tickover. Then it just got harder to start. Have bought new points and condenser,so will try them . Plug looks more dry than wet,new plug also. Dont have a decompressor on it,so hard to judge tdc for starting. Will look at pilot jet.
Regards.

Buy a decomp & cable....Your life will suck a lot less.

Timing is .8mm BTDC.
Use a old bulb and a couple lengths of wire/black tape if you don't have a tester.
Don't be tempted to use starting fluid on these things.
Do you have a nice hot, blue spark?

Maybe have a buddy with a squirt bottle shoot a blast into the carb while you kick. (full open throttle)
Wear fireproof undies and don't use a bottle that drips 😜

A '92 huh ? I don't recall which fuel tap those came with but it's a good idea to pull it out and check it's screen and or filter bowl just to be sure. DAMHIK.

Big +1 to what Sparkles said about the decompressor.

Good point.
The new ones have a plastic filter bowl that you can see through. The old ones have an aluminum bowl that may pass unnoticed.
It can clog slowly.

Another problem that can develop over time is a crack in the rubberized plastic intake manifold.
This is a well known fault.

Those are made by Karkoma of Germany.
Enfield started buying from them not long after BMW stopped buying from them.
