Yup. Tell them the only number you want to hear is OTD and nothing else. Then tell them anything other than OTD you're walking.

You could drop $5k on the desk and tell them you've decided to buy a Himalayan today but haven't decided from who and see if they take it.

I'm looking at getting a Himalayan here in NH, very close to where I live.
This is my first real bike and first time going through a dealer, is there any kind of negotiating like purchasing a car or is the MSRP +fees set in stone?

Dealer here advertises the base price + assembly and setup + destination fee = $5,694 Retail Price
They are on crack. That's a $945 markup in fees. Look around more, there is a dealer in CT that is more then fair on what they charge. I'll have to look at my invoice but I think my fees were right around $300.

This is what they advertise on their website, also the same dealer network with locations in MA.

$4,749 MSRP
$ 595 Assembly & Setup
$ 350 Destination Fee
----------
$5,694 Retail Price

Every dealer operates differently depending on what they think they can get for the bikes.

I paid MSRP of $4500 or so for my '19 (non-ABS) Himalayan. No additional fees. I paid my sales tax and registration in my home state. The assembly and setup fees are just dealer profit. They usually pay some kid $10 an hour to assemble the bikes and it only takes an hour at most. Some dealers will let you negotiate down to MSRP so you feel like you are getting a bargain. :) It is all supply and demand. How bad does the dealer need to sell the bike versus how bad do you want the bike. At $5694 before taxes I would be seriously looking at used bikes. There is one advertised here in Delaware for a lot better price than the dealer.

Luckily there is no tax in NH but I don't really have the means/time to travel very far to get one.

I took one for a little test yesterday at the dealer and out the door is 6079 with all fees and title. A bit high, going to try and talk them down but from my impression yesterday is that they probably won't budge much and they seem to be selling.

Well looks like I won't be getting a Himalayan, for the time being. They won't budge at all on the pricing and all the fees, seems a bit ridiculous and they're response in email was mostly a bunch of pre-typed bull crap on how its so lowly priced to enter the market and will rise to 8-9k within a few years.... None of that matter on their fees and markups.

I thought about contacting them for some pricing to compare or use as leverage even.
Or I could use the excuse of visiting my sister in CT as a trip down :) I'm just unfortunately unable to get down there before mid fall which would eat up precious riding time.

If you're in Portsmith NH, Enfield CT is 2 hours and 39 minutes away. You could make a day trip out of it. Back in 1978, I bought a new Honda CB550 Four in Barrie, Ontario, Canada and brought it back to NY (3.5 hours), so it can be done. Provided the price is right.

I've done fly and rides for a bargain and the adventure.

There is a popular BMW dealer in the Seattle area where people fly, buy, ride down the coast or across the Rockies before heading back to their home states.

If you don't have a truck or use of a trailer, Home Depot / Lowes rent a truck to use.

Welcome. I got mine from a dealer in CT. Mine is the sleet model and I think it was $5200 OTD. I rode it back to Boston from there after picking it up. It was an ordeal due to the breakin period limitations. I had to do it all through backroads :)
