I joined this site just to inquire about this BIG BORE setup... I completely agree with you guys that the Enfield absolutely detuned this engine to meet A 2 classification... It's built for a "first bike" - right price, right size, right look...

Anyway, I'm a new rider and bought a used Vstrom 650 to learn on. When I spend the money on a new bike I absolutely love the look and styling of Interceptor 650, but right now I have around 65hp with the suzuki and really don't want to go down to 50hp on the RE...

I do not mind spending a couple thousand to do the big bore kit on a new bike if it's a realistic reliable option...

Can any of you please help me find any reviews or videos on these SS big bore kits... I found them a few weeks ago but can't find any other information about what it does for the bike?? Why would they offer this with no video or performance numbers

Anyway, hey guys... Glad to be here

The parts are supposed to be available thru dealers, from what I have heard.

I would consider a Power Commander first, so you can be in control of tuning.

This is my forth bike, from starting with a 96( i think) intruder.. to a Kawasaki 500 to a hd 883... and now the interceptor...and i must say i love this bike!!

Yes... I don't think it's worth doing without a true dyno tune and maybe a clutch upgrade, but the thing is that they seem to have stopped updating people about this particular Big Bore Kit...

Example on the S&S YouTube channel they directly answered 2 comments that the RE KIT will be shipping in "less than a month" but that was now over 8 months ago.... Still no actual videos and NO shipping of product...

Makes me wonder if they actually hit an issue or if it's just a "road legal". - RE "agreement" issues holding it back,??

I don't know, but RENA has changed CEOs and has not been doing too well here last year.
S&S made those parts for the LSR bike a couple of years ago, and I haven't heard anything more about them since.
The LSR bike went well, but it was a nitrous oxide build which isn't really very applicable for the street. They just gave it the big bore kit and some spray. Not sure about any cams, but maybe they did. Also not sure if they actually did any production of these parts past the LSR effort.

I get the feeling that RE is holding back on parts, and everything has to be ordered thru dealers, which puts a kink in most builders' style. It feels like they don't want people going inside the engine. When you read the custom build articles, none of them have any engine work. Just styling.

Common sense says nobody wants to void the single best warranty in the industry while the bike is covered. The warranty is transferable too.
That could be just it. They are just waiting a year and half for the original int 650 and continental 650s to get outta warranty... Then sell the hp upgrade to the guys that started out on 50hp and ready for more

Well travelled
I had a test ride on a 65 hp Suzuki , and it felt no faster than a 37 hp BMW F650 GS in general road riding.
So, try and get a test ride on a 48 hp Enfield, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Or maybe get a ride on a Vincent Black Shadow, only 62 HP but it feels like three times what the Suziki has!

The only way that I can figure is to call S&S with a reference to the kit and ask them how you can get it.
I have never heard anyone on any RE forum who has ever actually got one.
