Online RE parts fiche and prices?

If you invest a long weekend you could probably create your own database with the help of the parts lists for the part numbers and ebay. as I understand most indian based ebay sellers deliver with DHL in a few days and free of shipping charges so this would reflect quite well what the cost would be in the US. In the last 3 years I have collected a stack of bills that show me 90% of the parts I will ever need but of course thats all Indian inland pricing and Himma parts only.
I doubt very much even the dealers have such a list, here in India every transaction runs online meaning if a bill is written there has to be internet and actual prices are pulled from the factory database. The dealer can access the db outside of writing a bill, e.g. for estimates, but can not pull all the prices in one go for any given bike/parts list (I have tried). recently when I paid my quarterly bill of over 3000 bucks for all the upgrade stuff I had purchased the poor girl in the parts department needed 3 days to write that up. btw: all transactions are coupled to the frame number of the vehicle for warranty claims reasons too.

Is this lack of transparency (secrecy) typical for a motorcycle manufacturer, or just peculiar to Royal Enfield? What purpose does it serve?

I guess its much easier to keep one centralized price list than to update hundreds countrywide with each small price change for a screw etc.
also: when I claimed warranty on my THIRD stator exchange within 30 tkm they could see in Leh that I indeed had had 2 exchanges before and thus (after quite some struggle that involved the factory itself) I was granted a free exchange. This is only possible if centralized records are kept that are accessible from every dealership.

if we really wanted a database of prices between all the members of this forum there is enough data to make a fairly accurate one. It would take some doing, therein lies the problem I guess

It's not exactly exhaustive research, but the few part numbers I have plugged into Hitchcocks have come up with price and availability. Obviously that's not entirely helpful to you in California, but it would give you a ball-park figure if it was any use?

First go to https://shop.motogb.co.uk, then select your bike. Worked for me.
Indeed, that works. can't have the "genuine-parts" bit.

and yes, that looks like exactly what the Brits need, and possibly the US as well if prices are similar. should be easy to verify.
On closer inspection though many parts are listed as 0.00 - which means these guys are exceedingly generous OR those parts arn't available.

Prices are on average 4 times the price we pay here in India, and that is the end consumer price, the wholesale prices are even lower. that also explains how the ebay Indians can send free of postage charges and still make a profit.

OK, I did a bit of research, it is monsooning outside and miraculously the internet works!

I used a typical item to compare prices between GB, US and India whereas GB is a online portal (not a dealer), US is indian dealer at ebay.com and india is from my dealer.
I guess the brits even charge postage on top of that inflated price, the ebay guy also charges shipping but I can not see it as I am in India and he does not ship there LOL.

magneto assy. price in India: approx. 65 US$

well, it took 8 minutes with 12kb/s but what is time at my age LOL

anyway, checked a few prices against my bills and they seem up to date. where did you unearth this gem?

what is the right most number (HSN) and is the 28% in the price or to be added later?

Google is your friend,...probably pure luck and too much time, there was nothing else juicy on the indian site where I found it. As to your other questions...not knowing...
