Cheep but not cheap. If they were truly cheap we wouldn't have polymer covered stainless braided brake lines as standard for one example.
Agree..but they still wouldnt put on a bracket that is not used.
The only way a company does that is if they have multiple similar models and the part is either cast or machined. there would be no reason to use the bracket, screw, and worker time to put it on if it wasn't used. RE isn't stupid. They employ Manufacturing Engineers. those ME's would ask, why are you spending money and time(money) doing something that isnt needed.
a single bike it is almost inconsequential, but when you figure the cost across how ever many they produce, it's suddenly real money.
It's both.Is Guy a person's name or generic for male person? a little help here please.
For the most part no they don't. Interesting that Himalayan has the same muffler mount tabs on both the left and right passenger foot peg mounts but there's only one muffler. I gotta wonder why.but they still wouldnt put on a bracket that is not used.

The right and left muffler tabs are left and right specific reverse twins of each other and also joint connectors. Only thing I can think is RE left themselves some optional wiggle room to allow for the possibility of hanging a second muffler if the market demands a twin cylinder enough to justify diverting engines from Interceptor - GT production.I wondered that myself. Only thing I can think is single stamping. That part is the same shape for both sides, so they chose to have only one shape stamped. Does the part serve as a joint connection also? That would explain the cost of bending the left side to mirror the right. Other than that, i have no idea.
also dont know why the US market gets the round turn signals (trafficators) where everyone else gets the rectangle. DOT size requirements maybe?
I come from an aircraft manufacturing world and have seen some things that made no sense. Many times when I'd ask the design engineers why this stupid thing is so stupid, the reply is often "FAA (or Trans Canada) requirement)
