A lot of people seem to go for barkbusters, I have acerbis on mine. Not much difference in price. I just happened to have em on another bike.

After reading a bunch of reviews, I went with the Barkbusters. A tad more $ than the Acerbis, but are solidly mounted at 2 points. The only caveat are the (lack of) instructions. It took some head-scratching to figure out how they mounted - each side is different. If you go with them, I can post some pics that will clarify things.

I purchased some inexpensive handguards from Amazon that installed beautifully on my bike: JFG RACING Motorcycle Universal Handguards

I had to put my windshield in the forward position, but they attached nicely. Also, the supplied bolts fit perfectly on the bars with the weights. No problem on install, and they look nice.

I don't have great pictures of them, but I took these back in October when I originally posted about my new bike.

This is an eBay part from India. The original seller isn't selling them, but others are. Here is one example.

This took a little bit of work to get it to fit on the bike, but mine fit fine. Others on this forum have complained that it flat out didn't fit. I also had to move my windshield in the forward position, which was fine by me since I had to do so for the handguards anyhow.

@BurnieM - If you have the clutch side mounted the other way round and it works for you - great. This orientation fits my clutch lever and handguard alignment the best, without interfering with the choke cable and electrical bundle from the left side controls. Lacking any specific instructions from Barkbusters, I think it's a moot point.

My Barkbuster frame was fitted by the dealer (I fitted the storm cover later at home - had from a previous bike) the clutch side is also installed the same as the other side. Here are two views of the clutch side.
Went with dealer, as when buying a new bike you get discounts on accessories supplied and fitted. (So i bit the bullet and went with GIVI engine guard, RE pannier rack (no panniers) and barkbusters frame-I know I have mentioned this in another post- sorry ;)).

Cheers

Hey, cool (all of you above). If being "right" really matters so much, I don't really give a sh*t. I got them to fit to my satisfaction, and it won't collapse and damage cables if the bike goes down...wtf else matters? RTFM - oh oops....I forgot, there isn't one.

Sorry nothing personal, it was not meant to slight anyone in any way.
Apologies if it came across that way.

The only intention on my part was that others can see different points of view, and here was one that a dealer seemed to use on my bike; and it seemed to confirm that the right side up (or down as it were) also works, that's all.

Take care,
Cheers

Barkbusters on mine, with Storm hand guards.
Make sure you get the frame kit for the Himalayan - the generic one will fit but the brackets in the Himmy kit are designed to make it work.
I've fitted mine outside the stock bar weights.

With the Storm guards, I've ridden around town in heavy rain and got home to find my gloves are dry, so they work.

Dry is good. Not frost bit is good too.

Bit of an old thread, but sound. I have a couple of issues.

1. 2019 Him but with RE accessory alloy handlebar. This greatly simplifies the outside mount as it's simply a tube as per most off road bikes. But completely scuppers the inside mount as the brace bracket is exactly where the handguard bracket would go. I've tried three different Acerbis, they're all the same length so same issue. BB website says explicitly their Him kit won't fit these bars, although don't explain why - I suspect both mounts are incompatible, and a BB set I borrowed off my Honda did seem to be a similar length, ie hit the brace.

I really would like 2 point mounted guards, but am a bit flumoxxed. Possibly simplest to obtain decent alloy 7/8" unbraced handlebar. Any ideas?

2. Incoming 2nd 2021+ Him, I fear even more issues, possibly with wider windscreen it is just impossible? Any feedback?

Got 4 examples of 2 Him generations to fettle, going to be a lot of qyestions...

Cheers
