Helmets with mesh comm built in

I'm in the market for a new modular helmet with bike-bike comm built in. I see a bunch on Amazon with BT3 or BT4 built in, but from what I'm reading, BT bike-bike-bike is not that great. It seems that mesh technology is the way to go... bikes can drop in or out without too much fuss. I also am a little adverse to paying premium prices. $250-$350 is my sweet spot.

Anyone heard of anything?

Cardo Packtalk bold gets lots of raves but they aint cheap. Personal preference for us is adding comms we like to the helmets we like. More choices in both if they aren't built in together. Got our Sena SMH10's from Rocket Moto on ADV through the SENA BLUETOOTH -Inmates Special GROUP BUY! thread that's still going on since 2010. IMHO SMH10's are the Toyota Camry/Honda accord of BT helmet comms.

How big of a group you going to ride in ?

Myself and the 7 other guys I ride w have the Sena S20. Crystal clear when you pair up 2 to 3 riders. Anything more than 3 and up you get a crackling noise in background that sounds like someone's washing dishes. LOL. Also can be a pain to pair up when you have more than 4 riders as the pairing order changes if you recently paired with someone else. Last person you paired is at top of list. Everyone else gets bumped down. If you have 8 friends you ride with it can get confusing. Mesh tech is supposed to better but costs more. My group is just waiting for someone to make the jump 1st. Good thing is the new Cardo will still supposedly pair with the Sena.

Good luck!

I don't care about having conversations while I ride, but have had Sena since the beginning to hear my GPS and phone and to pair with one other rider when needed. Picked up a second one used for cheap when the guy upgraded so now I have 1st and 2nd gen.

I like LS2 helmets for fit and finish and motorcyclecloseouts.com is selling LS2 linked in for $88. I might buy one with a 3/4 helmet for slow riding on the Himalayan this summer.

In my totally biased opinion I only trust CHATTERBOX for consistency. They use a radio frequency instead of a bluetooth. The range is 1-5 miles and is PTT or VOX so you don't have to listen to everyone breathing all of the time. Sena and Cardo work well if you are solo, have a passenger or are in small groups of riders that ride close together. As soon as you go around a corner they disconnect and every time you stop you have to wait ten minutes for everyone to figure out how to connect again. Chatterbox is a radio so it just WORKS. I organize the Flying Monkey Adventure Rider group and we have 48 riders that all use Chatterbox. I also get group discount if anyone is interested. I do not make a cent so this is not a sales pitch!

Are they just Bluetooth only now?

Sorry for resurrecting and old thread.
