Cylinder head weep.

My Hima had the same issue. Took it back to the shop and had it fixed under warranty. They retorqued those two bolts.

I could easily have done it myself, but figured that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. RENA should be hearing about these problems so that the root cause can be fixed.

Interestingly, my bike has started to show signs of the oil weep on the side of the engine opposite the spark plug. It only has 130 miles.

It’s the same one everyone else is talking about. There’s 2 bolts with 8mm heads that are either loose or not long enough, 1/16th turn or less is all mine took to stop the weep/seep. Now mine is seeping from the valve cover, still not enough to worry about getting fixed tho. When it has a more steady drip it pools I’ll reseal it.

thanks. that is helpful
If you have a crows foot you can torque the bolts to spec, I don’t think a socket will fit in there, but they don’t take very much to stop weeping. Warranty would also be a thing, I just hate going to the dealer for small things, if I’m going I’m making sure it’s something with wild wasting my time on.

Thank you. I agree, if I could just fix it then I would. The nearest dealer is over 100 miles away from me. Carrying the bike there is complicated enough and riding it, while fun, it gets old for sure with traffic and all that. Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into it.

I re-torqued mine but informed the dealer and had it put on the warranty record of the bike. This small weep, caused by loose bolts, could be a precursor to head gasket failure .... re-torque it by all means but make sure your dealer is aware and records it...

HERO!!!! Is all I have to say about this.

That is a good tip for people.

Personally I’d probably just do the head gasket my self. I’d be able to look at some other stuff while I was in there and I know the quality of work I output.

He's not a hero ... he's a very naughty boy !!!
(Apologies to the Pythons).
He did nothing heroic ... or is this just clickbait, and i've fallen for it ?

So your going to purchase all the parts and import risk and failure into an engine covered by a warranty ? Really ?
The warranty isn't free, you've paid for it. I charge typically 9% of sell price for warranties.

When it’s less then 20 dollars in parts and I know it’ll be done right yes I’d probably do it my self. It would cost 4-5 times more in Uber’s to get to and from the dealer then the parts cost. Doing the head gasket shouldn’t void warranty and it would be hard to prove a head gasket changed caused bearing failure.
Honestly working in the trade for a while, yes there are good tech. But there are a lot of terrible ones as well, if it’s something cheap, simple and quick... I’d rather just do it my self. Warranty isn’t free no but you pay for a lot of stuff you never use or hope to never use, it’s just the cost of having stuff I suppose.

Well ... Good point, well made ....

Still haven't got the hang of it yet? Seems like you must have been hiding behind the shelter shed smoking at school when you should have been in english class, paying attention 🤪

I’ve seen on advrider, some people are stripping the threads out of the head. Mine has the weep from those bolts and I tightened them and stopped it 15000 miles ago. I had some other ones show up and seem to have gone away on their own (valve cover).
